The Etta P. MacPhie Award 2005
The Lowell Association for the Blind annually presents the Etta P MacPhie award to the outstanding blind/visually impaired individual based on personal achievement and growth.
This year we have two special recipients for the Etta P. MacPhie
Awards.
Our first recipient was Karen Dafopoulous.
Our first recipient is Karen Dafopoulos, a pharmacist by training
who lost her sight suddenly due to an illness.
She came to LAB a couple of years ago seeking assistance with learning
the computer. She has been taking lessons and has recently started
Braille lessons. She was so excited recently between lessons that
she called wanted to learn the next letter. Karen was so pleased
to learn that she was selected to receive this award. We congratulate
Karen for all her accomplishments and wish her well in her current
job search.
Our Second Recipient - Paul Seaburg
Our second recipient this year is Paul Seaburg. Paul came to LAB
a couple of years ago and has been a regular participant in the
Adult Program. Paul is a pleasure to have at the office; he is always
willing to help and has a smile on his face. He has the patience
of a saint and was often seen helping Mary with her coffee or listening
to Mary about her children, usually over and over and over again!
He recently moved to smaller quarters and Paul has donated several
items to LAB as well as many musical tapes for office use. Congratulations
Paul.
