Elizabeth Cannon has over 20 years of non-profit management experience. She is a graduate of UMass Lowell with a Bachelor of Science in Administration of Law and Justice and Franklin Pierce University with a Masters in Business Administration. Before coming to LAB she worked at Community Teamwork, Inc. and Merrimack Valley Catholic Charities.

Elizabeth is the Vice President of the Non Profit Alliance of Greater Lowell and a member of the Regional Advisory Committee for the Massachusetts Commission for the Blind.

Bianca Sabatino began in August 2021 as LAB’s Coordinator of Youth Programs and Services. Originally from Tewksbury, she has been involved in various social work and community organizations in the Greater Lowell area. Bianca plans, budgets, and staffs all affairs and events regarding all of the youth and senior youth programs. On weekends, she accompanies the children on weekly group outings such as boat rides, petting zoos and apple picking. Bianca also plans STEP programs for some of the senior youth where they can learn work readiness skills. A Umass Lowell grad, Bianca is currently working on her master’s degree in social work at
Salem State University.

Director of programs Joshua Stachowski began working for LAB in 2016. From the Worcester area, Joshua attended Umass Lowell for his undergraduate and graduate programs, and was introduced to LAB via his grant writing class. Originally a director of adult programs, he was recently promoted to Director of Programs this past summer. His duties include planning andrunning different social events, budgeting and skillbuilding activities for both children and adults, as well as overseeing LAB’s technology and radio news reading service, located within the office. Joshua has a passion for serving his community and continues to be inspired by his clients everyday.

Dorothy has a Bachelor of Arts in English from Boston College (Class of ’74). Originally brought on as a Technology and Radio Coordinator, Dorothy continues her involvement with the organization by utilizing her fluent Braille code skills as a Braille Instructor. She currently handles 9 students per week for Braille and computer technology training on-site. Not only can Dorothy compose music in Braille, Dorothy can also play a band of instruments including the guitar, piano, saxophone, and harmonica. She is an active participant in the Adult Program at LAB.

Michaela Wakefield

Volunteer Coordinator

After completing an internship at LAB, Michaela moved into the position of Volunteer Coordinator! Michaela has previous experience interning at the University of Massachusetts Medical School, researching health disparities and serving on the Fitchburg Human Rights Commission as an associate member. Outside of work, Michaela enjoys writing, reading, and UMass Lowell hockey games. She has written two novels during her time at the University of Massachusetts Lowell.

Joanne Shea works as LAB’s Admin helping out with administrative tasks on a part time basis.  Before joining the staff Joanne was a volunteer on the radio reading service for 15 years.

Earl Williams is the Job Opportunities for the Blind coordinator. Originally from Orlando, Florida, Earl moved to Lowell in 2008 while working for the IRS as a tax examiner technician. He began as an intern this past summer and was hired part time in August of 2021. Legally blind himself, Earl works to help blind teenagers and young adults transition into college and the working world. Outside of the office, Earl is a University of Massachusetts Boston grad working on his master's in Vocational Rehabilitation Counseling.

Jonathan Valdez started attending LAB as a youth program participant from age 9. After graduating high school and completing an internship here, he was offered a position as a staff member for our youth program. Outside of work, he also enjoys completing various internship experiences, as well as researching the ins and outs of both elevators and public transportation.  Jonathan is currently attending Middlesex Community College.
